The invention furthermore relates to such a control device 1, 2 comprising a control unit for reprogramming the control parameters of the control device, which is the minimum weight to which the sensor is to react and the time periods of the different timers.

Description of a preferred embodiment Figs. 1 shows an embodiment of the invention, in which a pressure-sensitive sensor is integrated in a mat 5 which checks whether a stove 2 can be switched on or not. The carpet is placed in front of the stove and in some cases it may be appropriate for the carpet to be floor-fixed so that the functionality is always active.
The sensor in the carpet should suitably be sensitive over the entire surface of the carpet and the size of the carpet should be sufficient for a user of the stove to always activate the sensor when the stove is to be used. The pressure-sensitive sensor should be set to activate only when a certain minimum weight is placed on the sensor corresponding to the weight of an adult, so that pets or children can not inadvertently activate it. The weight required for the sensor to be activated can be programmable.
The figure illustrates the sensor as connected to the stove via an electrical conductor and through the same conductor naturally also supply voltage to the sensor is conducted. Alternatively, the signal connection between the sensor and the stove can take place wirelessly and the sensor can then be battery-powered. The sensor can control so that the stove is given supply voltage immediately or only after a certain delay and can be programmed to then turn off the power to the stove for a certain period of time after the pressure sensor's last detected pressure. This programming can be done with a user interface physically located in the carpet, on the stove or with a remote control.
Fig. 2 shows a block diagram of the invention. The pressure-sensitive sensor 1 is here signal-wise connected to a switch 2 which can cut off the current or the supply of gas to the stove 2 4. The switch is also connected to gas or electricity 3. The switch can also comprise a timer that fulfills your functions. In order for the switch not to be activated if someone quickly passes the sensor, there is a first timer which means that the switch releases current to the stove only after the sensor has detected pressure for a certain minimum period of time.
Once the sensor has controlled the switch to let current through to the stove, the user can noise the sensor without the current being immediately turned off, but this only happens after another period of time controlled by a second timer. If the user returns to the stove before the second timer has been reduced to zero, it is reset as soon as the user returns and the sensor is activated. As a further safety measure, there is a third timer and if the sensor remains activated continuously for too long, the third timer causes the switch to cut off the power to the stove.
The described embodiment is used to control a particular stove, which is particularly important since stoves can cause fires, but obviously the device can be used with any type of appliance. The switch is described here as a switch that literally cuts off the power or gas supply to the stove in its entirety, but it can of course control the stove in a more indirect way via some other type of interface.

Claims (5)

A control device (1, 2) for a household appliance (4), wherein the control device comprises a pressure sensor (1) and a control means (2) which control the household appliance, characterized in that the control device (1, 2) is designed to allow the control means activate or deactivate the appliance depending on whether or not the pressure sensor detects a minimum weight.

A control device (1, 2) according to claim 1, characterized in that the control device therefor comprises a first timer which can be set to a first time period, wherein the control device (1, 2) is designed to allow the control means to activate the household appliance when the pressure sensor senses a minimum weight for at least one period corresponding to the first time period.

A control device (1, 2) according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the control device therefor comprises a second timer which can be set to a second time period, wherein the control device (1, 2) is designed to allow the control means to deactivate the household appliance when the pressure sensor does not sensed a minimum weight for at least one time corresponding to the second time period.

A control device (1, 2) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the control device additionally comprises a control unit for reprogramming the control parameters of the control device.

A control device (1, 2) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the control device is intended to control a stove.
